The Dance Corner, LLC Pricing and Policies for the 2011-2012 Fall/ Spring Dance Season
The 2011- 2012 dance season begins September 12, 2011 and ends on June 1, 2012.  Payments made for registration, tuition, costumes and dance shoes are non-refundable.  A studio credit will be issued in the event of student withdrawal.  Classes missed due to illness, inclement weather or personal holiday may be made up in another class of appropriate level.  We will not prorate tuition for missed classes.

Registration Fee
All registrations must be accompanied by a $25 registration fee.  One fee per family.

Payment
The above prices are based on the total tuition for a 30 week dance year divided into 9 payments.  Prices are listed as class hours per week.  Irish step is billed as a separate hour of class and will not be combined with weekly class hours for other dance styles.  Payments may be made monthly, semi-annually or annually by cash, check or credit/ debit card.  A $25 service fee will be charged for all returned checks.  Monthly tuition payments are due on the first of each month.   A $10 late fee will be applied to any monthly tuition payments received after 15th of the month.  Payments made on past due accounts will be applied to the oldest invoice first.  Customers will be notified by The Dance Corner of accounts more than 30 days past due.  The Dance Corner reserves the right to discontinue service to any customer with an account more than 60 days past due.  Accounts more than 60 days past due will be submitted to a collection agency. Customers will be responsible for any attorney or collection fees arising from The Dance Corner’s efforts to collect unpaid balances. 

Withdrawal
Students who choose not to continue with dance classes must notify Miss Carrie in person, by phone or in writing by mail or email.  Charges will continue to accrue to your account until Miss Carrie has been notified of your withdrawal.  Students who withdraw before December 1st will receive a full refund of costume deposits and be issued a studio credit for pre-paid tuition.  Students who withdraw after December 1st  are responsible for any costume balance due and will receive a studio credit for pre-paid tuition.  Tuition credits will be calculated from the first of the month following the date The Dance Corner is notified of withdrawal.  Monthly tuition charges will not be prorated.

Costumes
$14 per student will be added to your monthly, semi-annual or annual bill, September- December to be put towards recital costumes (Excluding some Irish Step classes).  Students who take more than one class will have an additional $6 per class added to their monthly, semi-annual or annual monthly bill.  Your pre-paid costume deposit will be credited to your final costume bill in February.  Costumes are ordered the first week of December to ensure availability and timely arrival.  Costumes will not be ordered for your child if your account is more than 30 days past due on December 1st.  Final costume payments are due in February and costumes will be distributed to students in March.  Costumes will not be distributed to you until your account is paid in full.

Semi-Annual Discount
Semi-annual tuition fees will be reduced by 5%.  Semi-annual discounts do not apply to Irish Step classes and cannot be combined with any other discounts.  Semi-annual payments must be received by September 12, 2011 and January 2, 2012 in order to receive the 5% discount. 

Family Discount
Those families with multiple children dancing will receive $5 off their monthly tuition statement.  Sorry, does not apply to Irish Step lessons.  This discount can not be combined with any other discount.  The greater discount will apply.

2012 Recital Tickets
In order to make our graduating seniors’ last recital truly memorable, they will be the first on the list to purchase tickets for the 2012 recital.  After the seniors, tickets  will be sold based on the order registrations are received. All registrations received before June 13, 2011 must be post-marked.  Hand delivered registrations will not be accepted at the recital or at the studio until this date.  Online registrations are welcome.  Families who register online must mail a check to The Dance Corner for their $25 registration fee.  Families who register online will not be added to the 2012 ticket list until their post-marked check has be has been received. 

Class Placement
Students will be placed in the appropriate class for their age and level.  Students new to dance may need to begin the year in a class younger than their age group, or may be asked to take an additional class for a period of time in order to catch up to their age group.  We ask that you please respect Dance Corner staff decisions regarding placement.  It is important to us that students of all ages and levels have a positive dance experience.  All questions or concerns about class placement should be directed to Miss Carrie.

Dress Code

Girls
Pre-K & Kindergarten classes:
All students must wear a pink leotard and pink tights.
Chiffon dance skirts are allowed, but no tutus please.
1st Grade & Up Ballet classes: All students must wear a black leotard and pink tights.
Skirts are discouraged and Tutus are not allowed.
1st Grade & Up Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Irish Step, Modern & Lyrical classes:  Students may wear any solid color leotard with Pink, black or Tan tights.

Black, fitted dance shorts, black jazz pants or dance skirts will be allowed only by instructor approval.  Solid colored, fitted tank tops will only be allowed in 6th grade & Up classes by instructor approval.

Hair must be pulled up, away from the face in a ponytail, bun or braid.  Students with shorter hair should wear barrettes or a headband to keep hair out of face.

No sweatpants, pajama pants, baggy shorts, t-shirts or other baggy clothing will be allowed in girls dance classes.  Please avoid hanging jewelry and watches as well.

Boys
All Classes: shorts/sweats and t-shirt.

PLEASE NOTE:  The dress code will be strictly enforced, and the teacher has the right to prevent an inappropriately dressed student from participating in class.

Shoe style and color varies based on class level. The Dance Corner carries a full line of dancewear and dance shoes.  Ask about purchasing shoes and leotards when registering for classes

Gum chewing is not permitted in any classes

VANDALISM
Vandalism of any kind will not be tolerated.

CODE OF ETHICS
Students shall respect their fellow classmates, the studio faculty and themselves.

NEWSLETTER
Students receive The Dance Corner News, published monthly to keep families and friends informed of studio events.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES & SPECIAL EVENTS
A parent observation week is scheduled each December so that parents can view their children’s progress.  Additionally, all students will be invited to take part in a year end recital.
Throughout the year, The Dance Corner hosts various group trips, such as taking dance classes at the Broadway Dance Center in NYC and attending local and regional dance performances

From time to time, visiting performers from Goodspeed Musicals, Hartford Stage and other local arts organizations offer master classes at The Dance Corner.

PHOTO CONSENT

The Dance Corner, LLC maintains a website, publishes a newsletter, uses pictures in marketing brochures and posts them in local newspapers.  The Dance Corner, LLC may use your child’s photo (e.g. in class photos, recital photos and costume portraits) for these purposes unless you notify us in writing that we may not. Students are free to refuse to be photographed.

PHYSICAL CONTACT

Dance is an art form that requires teachers to be able to have appropriate physical contact for the purposes of making technical corrections.  By submitting a registration (online or otherwise), the parent/ guardian and student are granting consent for such physical contact. 

INJURY RELEASE

It is understood that the risk of injury is inherent in dance.  The Dance Corner, LLC strives to reduce the risk through proper dance training techniques.  By submitting  a registration, online or otherwise, the parent/ guardian and student are willing to assume those risks and release and hold harmless and indemnify The Dance Corner, LLC, its agents, members, subcontractors, employees, participants and volunteers from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, judgments which the undersigned, or any other person ever had or may have against The Dance Corner, LLC for any losses, costs and expenses (including attorney’s fees) and damages or injuries known or unknown, real or personal, sustained by me or my child while in attendance and/ or participating in all Dance Corner, LLC programs.  The parent/ guardian and student also agree that they will not hold The Dance Corner, LLC responsible for the loss or damage of personal property while in attendance and/ or participating in any of these programs.
