COMBO CLASS RECITAL DANCES
Over the
past few years, I have noticed that my instructors and I spend a lot of
time in our combination classes working on recital dances and there just
isn't enough time to teach all the skills I feel my students need to
learn. One hour, or even and hour and a half once a week for 31 weeks
just isn't enough time for students to learn and perfect 2 recital
dances and master all the dance skills they should learn in that season.
This
year I have decided to make some changes to improve the quality of our
instruction. For the 2011 recital all Ballet/Tap, Jazz/Tap and Ballet/
Tap/ Jazz combo classes will perform only one dance in the recital. The
style of the dance (ballet, tap or jazz) will be chosen by the
instructor and students in these classes will learn one full length
dance in that style for the recital. These students will need only one
costume for the recital.
I
feel very strongly that this change to our class structure is a positive
one for our youngest students. The recital is an exciting event and I
want students to have a great performance experience. I think that by
focusing more on dance technique and mastering skills in our weekly
classes rather than learning choreography, our students will become more
skilled dancers and more confident performers overall. Please contact

WALK-IN'S WELCOME
Dancers enrolled in any 4th grade or
higher jazz class at The Dance Corner are welcome to attend one of our
weekly technique classes whenever your schedule permits. Technique
classes are intensive jazz classes focused on refining technique and
alignment. Dancers do not need to sign up for the class. They can attend
anytime for just $12 for a 1-hour class. This fee must be paid to the
teacher at the start of class. We will not add walk-in classes to
monthly bills.
The 4th-8th grade technique class meets Thursdays, 3:30-4:30. The 9th grade and up class meets Thursdays, 4:30-5:30.
Any students age 13 and up who would like to take an additional weekly ballet class are welcome to attend the Teen Ballet & Stretch class on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30. You can attend anytime for just $12/ class.

We still have several 2010 recital DVD's that haven't been claimed.
The DVD's are in the Dance Shop and can be picked up during shop hours.

Try a Modern Dance class on Mondays
The Dance Corner invites students age 10 and up to try a Modern dance class for free during the month of October.
5th
-8th grade students can attend the Beginner Modern class from 7:30-8:30
on Mondays and 8th grade and up students with at least 4 years previous
dance experience are invited to attend the 5:30-6:30, Intermediate
Modern class on Mondays. Barefeet, dancewear and a smile is all that is
required. Current Dance Corner students and anyone else who is
interested are welcome. Come and try this exciting and expressive style
of dance.

DRESS CODE
Just
like sports, dance has a uniform. It is important that students come to
class dressed appropriately and ready to dance. The Dance Corner
enforces the following dress code for all classes.
Girls
Pre-K & Kindergarten classes: All students must wear a pink leotard and pink tights.
Chiffon dance skirts are allowed, but no tutus please.
1st Grade & Up Ballet classes: All students must wear a black leotard and pink tights.
Skirts are discouraged and Tutus are not allowed.
1st Grade & Up Jazz, Tap, Combo Classes, Irish Step, Modern, Hip Hop & Lyrical classes:
Students may wear any solid color leotard with Pink, black or Tan tights.
Black,
fitted dance shorts or black jazz pants will be allowed only by
instructor approval. Solid colored, fitted tank tops will only be
allowed in 6th grade & Up classes by instructor approval.
Hair
must be pulled up, away from the face in a ponytail, bun or braid.
Students with shorter hair should wear barrettes or a headband to keep
hair out of face.
No
sweatpants, pajama pants, baggy shorts, t-shirts or other baggy clothing
will be allowed in girls dance classes. Please avoid hanging jewelry
and watches as well.
Boys
All Classes: shorts/sweats and t-shirt
Jeans are not appropriate dancewear for girls or boys.
Students who are not properly dressed for class will not be allowed to participate.
Please respect the dress code.

Halloween Candy Fundraiser for Emerald Dancers
 Don't
want the hassle of purchasing expensive candy this year? Let the
Emerald Dancers arrange a variety of Halloween candy in a decorative
bowl. You will get over 100 pieces of candy in a fun holiday
bowl. Stop in the dance shop to view a sample bowl and place your
order today. All orders must be pre-paid. Orders will be taken up
to October 23 and will be available for pick the week of Oct.
25. Money raised from your purchase will help fund the
Emerald Dancers trip to Ireland in June. Please support
our dancers!

Tuition Payments
Monthly
Tuition bills are due upon receipt. Payments can be mailed to the
studio or left in the "Check Box" in the main lobby waiting area.
A
$10 late fee will be applied to any monthly or semi-annual payments not
received by the 15th of the month. Also, there is a $25 charge for
returned checks. The Dance Corner accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover,
allowing you to have your tuition bill paid automatically each month.

SHOES, LEOTARDS, TIGHTS, TANK TOPS, BAGS AND MORE ON SALE IN OUR DANCE SHOP!
The
Dance Corner carries Revolution brand dancewear and shoes. Revolution's
quality cotton/ spandex leotards are seamless, tagless, extremely
comfortable and reasonably priced. Several styles are
available in both child and adult sizes.
Revolution's
tights are comfortable and high quality! They won't stretch out and
begin to bag. Miss Carrie gave these tights out with most recital
costumes last spring and the reviews from the dancers were great!
Also
on sale are wrap chiffon ballet skirts in child and adult sizes as well
as pull-on, elastic waistband chiffon skirts in child sizes. Fitted
black dance shorts, jazz pants and capri dance pants that meet are dress
code requirements are also on sale.
Don't spend valuable time going
out of your way to dance shops to buy dancewear for your child when you
can get everything you need at The Dance Corner. Our prices are 15-20%
below retail shop prices!
