Technique Workshops

THIS SEASON THE DANCE CORNER WILL OFFER A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS, TAUGHT BY MISS WENDY, FOR SERIOUS DANCERS AGE 11 AND UP, WHO WISH TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS. 

WORKSHOPS WILL BE OFFERED IN A VARIETY OF AREAS INCLUDING TURNS, JUMPS & ALIGNMENT.

WORKSHOPS WILL CONSIST OF 3 ONE-HOUR CLASSES HELD ON THURSDAYS FROM 5:30-6:30.

Complete Technique Workshop

The third and final workshop of the 2007-2008 season, will focus on improving overall jazz technique. 

Dancers will work on alignment, flexibility, balance, extensions, spins, jumps and leaps.  This 3-class session will push students to polish their dance technique, by helping them identify problem areas and showing them how to correct these problems, to ultimately improve and refine their technique. 

The “Complete technique” workshop will be held Thursdays March 27th, April 3rd & April 10th from 5:30-6:30PM.

This workshop is open to all dancers age 11 and up.  The cost for the 3-class workshop is $34.

Free Try-it Days, Saturday June 14th & Saturday, August 16th

Have you always wanted to dance?  Do you have a friend or sibling who you want to spend the day with, exploring new dance styles and having a great time?  Come and try a variety of dance classes for free at one of our FREE Try-it Days.  Twenty different ½ hour classes will be offered in many different styles- Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Broadway Jazz, Lyrical, Creative Movement, and Irish Step.  Classes are broken into different age groups from 2-adult.  Boys, girls and adults are welcome.  Detailed class schedules for each try-it day will be available at TheDanceCorner.com one month prior to each event. 

Dance Performance Workshop

for students entering 5th- 12th grade

6/9-6/11, 4:30-7:30PM

This special June session is designed to give dancers a 3-day immersion in all forms of dance with a focus on technique and performance, quality and style.  Over the course of the three-day session students will fine tune their skills in Tap, Jazz and Ballet, and be introduced to new disciplines such as Modern Dance, Broadway Jazz, and Lyrical.  Students interested in auditioning for the 2008-2009 Dance Company are strongly urged to attend this workshop.  Material covered in the workshop will be included in the Company auditions on June 12th.

Dance Performance Workshop Tuition- $75

Dance Company Audition Fee:  $30/ dancer

 
Hip Hop Boot Camp

6/17-6/19, 4PM- 5:30PM for 9-12 year olds

6/17- 6/19, 5:30PM- 7PM for 13 and older

This camp will take you through the paces! You will learn the hottest moves seen on today’s music videos and movies. Be prepared to sweat while you learn the latest and greatest urban styles!

Tuition:  $45

Storybook Dance Days for 4- 6 year olds

These theme based classes teach a love of dance and performing arts through creative play.  Dancers will dance along with their favorite stories and create related crafts.  Each fun-filled session consists of 45 minutes of dance and movement, story and craft time. Register for one or all Storybook Dance Days!

Kids on the Move

Creative Movement for 2-4 year olds

These high-energy, fun-filled classes are a great way to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to the joys of movement.  We’ll use our imaginations while we sing, dance, jump, wiggle and spin.  Students will develop coordination and body awareness while they gallop, roll, bend, and stretch into an exciting world of movement and creative play. 

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10AM- 10:45AM

4 classes- 7/1, 7/3, 7/8 & 7/10

Fee:  $42/ session

Summer Dance Intensive- 4- Weeks, June 24th- July 17th

Serious dance students age 11 or older, looking to refine their dance skills and expand their repertoire of dance styles can sign up for all  summer classes offered for their level during The Dance Corner Summer Session for a special discount price.  That’s over 20 hours of class time in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap and Modern dance!  Students must have previous dance experience and be 11 or older. 

Age 11-13:  6 classes each week

Wednesdays and Thursdays , 4:00PM-7:00PM

11-13 Summer Intensive Fee:  $100

Age 14 & up classes: 7 classes each week

Tuesdays, 5:00-8:00, Wednesdays, 4:00-7:00 and Thursdays, 6:00- 7:30

14 & up Summer Intensive Fee:  $120

Summer Dance Camps

Along with a full session of evening dance classes, The Dance Corner also offers exciting summer day camps for all ages.  Our camps incorporate movement with crafts and theatre arts to excite and entertain students.  Campers will explore the joy of music, movement and self-expression in a nurturing and safe environment.  Camp Tuition includes all craft supplies. Students should come dressed in clothing that they can move in freely.  Campers should bring a bag lunch or snack and beverage with them each day.

 
V.I.P. (Very Important Princesses) Camp for 5-7 year olds

7/14- 7/16, 10AM-12PM

Be a ballerina princess for a few days! Campers will learn basic ballet steps and dance to all their favorites from The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.  They will decorate wands and crowns and have fun creating their own “Princess” costumes, complete with hair and make-up!  The V.I.P.’s will perform a special dance number for family and friends on the last day of camp.  Tuition:  $55

 
Petite Princess Camp for 2 ½- 4 year olds

7/21-7/23, 10AM- 11:30AM

Our Petite Princess Camp is for little princesses not quite old enough for the V.I.P. Camp.  Campers will immerse themselves in a magical fairy land of ballerina princesses with stories, crafts, dress up, music and dance.  Every moment will be filled with games, crafts and fairytale enchantment.  Princesses will perform a special dance for family and friends on the last day of camp.   Tuition: $45           . 

 
Broadway Bound Theatre Arts Camp for 8-10 year olds

7/28-7/31, 10AM- 1:00PM 

Discover the joy, fun and creativity of dance and drama.  A fantastic experience for boys and girls to dance, move and create in a nurturing, fun, and safe environment.  Campers will experience a variety of dance styles and explore different aspects of theatre performance and production while working together to create a short play.  This 4-day camp includes daily classes in a variety of dance styles including ballet, tap and jazz as well as many other fun activities.  Daily craft projects creating scenery, props and costume pieces will serve as an introduction to theatre and dance production.  Each camp will culminate in a performance for family and friends on the final day.

$80/ camp

Have a busy summer planned?  Can’t commit to a weekly class? 

Buy a Summer Dance card for $66 and attend any 6 classes you want, anytime this summer.  Summer dance cards are a flexible way to keep you dancing over the summer without committing to a regular weekly class.  The card offers children and adults the chance to sample a variety of dance styles.  Any member of your household can use the Summer Dance Card.  Mom can try tap class one week and her daughter can take a ballet class the next.  Cards are valid from June 24h- July 17th.    

Cards are non-refundable and non-transferable (beyond immediate family members).  Cards valid for Summer Session classes only.  Not valid for camps or workshops including, Kids on The Move , Storybook Dance Days, Dance Performance Workshop or Hip Hop Boot Camp. No Discounts on Dance Card.
